TAYLOR N. BRAUN

Directing Vision to AD Precision

ABOUT ME

I grew up in a small town in Maryland, always searching for a way to tell stories and make sense of the world around me. That search led me to SCAD, where I discovered filmmaking as something I was meant to do. Everywhere I go, I see a story waiting to be told. Every place becomes a potential film location, every person a character study, every dream or nightmare the seed of a script.

I am a filmmaker specializing in directing and assistant directing, dedicated to creating cinematic experiences that are both emotionally charged and visually distinct. My work is driven by the desire to find truth through storytelling, to explore what makes people break, connect, and change. I draw influence from the imaginations of Guillermo del Toro, Werner Herzog, and Francisco Goya, artists who understand that beauty and darkness often coexist.

My directorial debut, Angler, marked my true entry into the filmmaking world. It is a story that merges surreal horror with emotional honesty and defines the tone of my creative voice. As an Assistant Director, I bring that same sense of vision and discipline to set, balancing creativity with structure and ensuring every production runs with precision, communication, and purpose.

Filmmaking is not just my passion; it is my lens for understanding life. Whether I am directing a scene or managing one, my goal is the same: to help bring powerful, unforgettable stories to life.

Education

Savannah College of Art & Design

2022-26

Bachelors of Fine Arts | Film & Television

Minor in Drawing

Dean’s List 4.0 GPA

Through my studies in the Film & Television program at SCAD, I’ve gained comprehensive training across every stage of production, from development through post. The program’s emphasis on collaboration and hands-on learning has allowed me to develop a strong foundation in both creative and logistical work, understanding how each department contributes to the storytelling process.

Much of my practical experience has been focused on Assistant Directing, where I apply my broad production knowledge to effectively build, manage, and adapt detailed shooting schedules while maintaining clear communication and a cohesive set environment.

“She is remarkably professional and always kind. She knows exactly what every person needs even before they ask and works harder than most people on a set.”

Drake Aasen

“I would recommend Taylor for any creative roll. Give her one day of training and she’ll out perform 50% of your existing crew or staff… If your tired of talking about executing a project and just need it finished, you should’ve hired her to begin with.”

Jacob Wiant

“Taylor worked well with every single person on set. From the actors to the ADs, DP, and even members on the team she may not have had direct contact with like G&E or DIT, she was always friendly, collaborative, respectful, and her passion for this project just shone through in everything she did.”
